All Work by Victoria Granie
Victoria's paintings evoke times gone by, with scenes of life in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Inspired by photographs and postcards of the Victorian and Edwardian eras the paintings employ a monochromatic sepia palette; in keeping with many of the photographic images at this time.
These charming works of art are snapshots of more innocent times, though the poignancy is all the more marked when one considers many of the young men in these images must have fought and died in the fields of Flanders; a horrific turn of events they could not have foreseen at the time.
Painted in a traditional, yet free style, these nostalgic images are particularly suited to receptions rooms or a study, where they can form the basis of discussion and reflection. Victoria's paintings are of real historical places and make fabulous gifts for people living in and around the environs depicted in each of the paintings.
